Search Engine Optimization is all about bringing your website to the front pages of search results and
presenting your website to the world.

This is obviously a very exciting job to perform; an interesting challenge to take up.

However, before starting an  SEO campaign , you need to be sure that you have all the required information and resources.

1. Know Your Website

There are various elements of a website, from design to usability, to  page load time which influence search engine rankings. Before you begin with your campaign, it's important to check information about your site.
  •  How many pages are indexed?   
  • What is the website load time?  
  • Which are the keywords currently used in the content? 
  • These are some of the basic questions. 

2. Make Improvements In The Website 

Once you know exactly where you stand, it's important to work on optimization of your site. Make sure that the HTML coding is optimal, so that page load time is controlled; make sure that the right graphics
are used, ensure the presence of keywords in content and so on and so forth; you can make the improvements.

3. Research Your Keywords

Keywords are the core ingredients of your SEO works! So, it's important to have your keyword research in place Which are the keywords that you are targeting? Which keywords is your company looking to target? These are some pressing questions that need to be 'checked' before you move ahead with your SEO campaign 

 4. Market Research   

Competitor moves and  understanding of target group can hugely affect the success of your project. You must have an in  depth research of the virtual space that you are planning to target. 

5. Available Tools And Analytics   

Webmaster and search engine tools are available for free on the internet. A proper use of the analytics is important to understand the plan of action and how you must progress with your campaign.

6. Set Goals

Before starting with your project, you need to set your long term and short term goals. Which words do you want to rank for? How many hits do you intend to get per month? Are you looking at e-commerce or pay per click campaigns as well? As an expert, your goals have to be set.

7. Plan Strategies 

 Link building , for instance, is an integral element of SEO. What are your  linking strategies and how do you plan to build your web presence? Concentrate on making agood back linking strategy that will be customized to your requirement. 

From the search engine point of view, have a broader vision. Along with Google norms, plan how you will meet the norms and requirements of other popular search engines like Bing.

These are like the foundation of your work and hence, need to be taken seriously. Once your checklist is crossed, you can easily plunge into your SEO campaign.
